A ride on the highest roller coaster, zooming on bikes and venturing into the sea – Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba has done it all with co-star Ranbir Kapoor while shooting for “Bachna Ae Haseeno”.
“We did a whole lot of things while shooting for the film including riding on the highest roller-coaster in the world. We also rode on huskies and bikes. In fact, one day Ranbir and I were asked to step into the seawater for a scene. We were dreading it, but our director insisted and so we had to do that as well, ” Minissha said here.
The actress was in the capital along with director Siddharth Anand and co-stars Ranbir, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu to promote “Bachna Ae Haseeno”, which releases Friday.
The film traces the love life of a man from the time he is 18 years old to when he is 30, and Minissha plays Ranbir’s first love interest.
Talking about her role Minissha said: “Mahi is a 17-year-old girl from Amritsar who believes in a fairytale ending of a story. She has very simple expectations from life. She wants to fall in love and get married. I feel there is a little bit of Mahi in all of us.”
Ever since the film’s promos have come, Minissha is seen as a trendsetter of sorts thanks to her unconventional, trendy and youthful look in the film. “I’m the only one who is Indianised in the film. My role is set in the year 1996 and I play a Punjabi girl. But we didn’t want the look to be typically Punjabi. We wanted it to keep it funky and slightly modern.
“My character Mahi has worn patiala salwars with spaghetti tops and kurtis with capris. In fact, the patiala salwars with tops has become a rage among college students in Mumbai. I don’t know about Delhi though, ” Minissha quipped.
A Punjabi by origin, this is not the first time she has played a Punjabi girl.
“I played a Punjabi girl in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’. But in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, my role is 180 degrees from that of Mini in ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’.”
“Mahi is a city-born and hip Punjabi girl. Her family is rich and she goes on a trip around the world unlike Mini who came from a strict rural background, ” she said.
Minissha, who wanted to become a journalist before entering Bollywood with “Yahaan”, played a scribe in Samar Khan’s “Shaurya”.
“Now I want to play a war correspondent, ” she said.
The actress claims she always signs films with her eyes wide open.
“I always knew what I was getting into. I always wanted to play well-defined roles. ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is my first out-and-out romantic film and I feel it’s a novel concept. I have got to play a very cute, girl-next-door character.”
Asked whether Ranbir got Minissha in the end or not, she replied: “If I reveal the plot of the film, why would anyone go and watch it?”

With her vivacious dimples and angelic features, Preity Zinta might be just one of her kind, but looks like Bollywood has found a gorgeous look alike in Minissha Lamba, who shares much more in common than a mere uncanny resemblance to this pretty lass.
If reports are to be believed, Minissha is the new Preity of B-town and it’s not just the stunning looks and features that the two share but they also seem to have their family and career background in common.
Now, let’s take a look at who got this similarity into limelight?
It’s none other than the latest heartthrob of the nation, Ranbir Kapoor, who is left awestruck by the similarity between the two beauties. The actor who shares screen space with Lamba in their forthcoming flick ‘Bachna Ae Hasseno’ pointed out the stark resemblance between the two and here is what he said:
“I think there is a void of that Preity Zinta kind of actress in today’s day and age, I think Minissha Lamba fits the bill perfectly. It was great fun working with her. She is one of the people who wreaks goodness, as she has no negativity inside her. She is very unassuming; she kept to her own on the sets. I think she has done a wonderful job playing an 18 year old and 25 year old, so you can see the growth in her character too and I am sure you guys are going to love her.”
With that, let us also tell you about some of the other facts that the two have in common:
Both of these bodylicious babes come from Himachal Pradesh and are well educated.
While Preity has done her graduation in psychology, Minissha holds a degree in English honours.
Furthermore, it was the initial modeling assignments that got the filmmakers to notice them. Both the beauties grabbed the attention of the masses with their respective TV ads.
While Preity got eyeballs with her famous ‘Liril’ ad, Minissha’s ‘Cadbury’ ad made her famous overnight.
So for all those Zinta fans, desperate to spot their favourite actress onscreen again, we suggest that they go out and watch Minissha, the next big pretty lass in Bollywood.
