The model-turned-actress managed to beat the other 12 contestants, and bag the prize money of Rs 50 lakh.

The final episode will be aired on August 14. Nethra talks to Rajul Hegde about her big win.

How does it feel to win Khatron Ke Khiladi?

I won’t lie. It’s a good feeling. Honestly, I wasn’t aiming at winning but was trying to do every stunt to the best of my ability.

Which was your toughest stunt?

I had to walk on glass. That was very scary because I had to do it first. I was constantly chanting Sai Baba’s name. Also, we had to jump from a helicopter. That was scary too.

I was petrified of doing some stunts. I did not do any drama for effect on television. I didn’t even know there were mikes attached to our helmets when I did the second stunt. I was petrified when I had to put my head in a tub full of snakes and water. You really don’t know if the snakes would bite or if they are harmless. After a few stunts, we realised that scorpions, snakes and creepy crawlies were all harmless.

The most disgusting stunt?

I hate snakes but that stunt was fine. The worst stunt was when I had to put my hand in container full of cockroaches!

Have you overcome any fear?

Yes. When I was in New York — after the show — I saw a cockroach. I just waited for it to go and then I moved away. Usually if I see a cockroach, I change my route. So there was a difference.

Who did you think deserved to win?

Pooja Bedi tried doing most of the stunts but when only four of us were left, she got eliminated in the car stunt. There were some, who were really scared of some stunts and asked their partners to do them.

We all slogged it out but finally, I won. I got the least number of safety bands and had to do the maximum stunts [30 of them].

How was the experience on the show?

It was a fantastic experience. It had great exposure. I have made friends and have amazing memories. I fondly remember the team of Endemol, the participants, my partner Major Saurabh Batta and everyone, who was a part of the show. We girls bonded very well. It was a healthy competition.

When Major Saurabh Batta was selected as my partner, everyone said he was the best amongst the army officers on the show. He never put pressure on me to do any stunt — that’s what I liked most. Even if I didn’t do a stunt, he said it would be okay. But he kept motivating me to at least attempt the stunt.

How was your rapport with Akshay Kumar?

Akshay is pretty easy going, professional and down-to-earth. He was hanging out and eating with us. There were no tantrums. He was motivating us to do the stunts and also shouted at us if we didn’t do it properly.

What will you do with the prize money?

I have not got the money yet. I will get it after the show ends. Before I decide what I will do with the prize money, I think it will get over! (Laughs)

What next?

I want to focus on new age Hindi cinema. Television is a happening medium but I don’t want to do small budget shows. I want to do something big.

Will you take part in the second season of Khatron Ke Khiladi?

Yes! (Laughs)
